With a wired connection, your Apple device is physically connected to your vehicle using a USB cable, ensuring a stable and seamless experience. CarPlay is integrated into the operating system of your iPhone, so you don't need to download a standalone CarPlay app.

To set up Apple CarPlay:

Confirm that your INFINITI vehicle supports Apple CarPlay
Connect your device to the USB port of your compatible INFINITI
Follow the on-screen prompts on your car's display to set up Apple CarPlay

Wireless Apple CarPlay

With a wireless connection, you can connect your Apple device to your vehicle via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, allowing for a clutter-free setup.

Wireless setup instructions

To set up wireless Apple CarPlay:

Confirm that your INFINITI vehicle supports Apple CarPlay

Press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel, and ensure that your stereo is set to Bluetooth or wireless mode

On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi, ensuring Wi-Fi is activated. Connect to the CarPlay network, ensuring Auto-Join is on.

Head to Settings > General > CarPlay on your iPhone, and choose your vehicle.

Siri® for Apple CarPlay

If you have a compatible iPhone® with Siri, you can link your iPhone to the Siri® Eyes Free function in your vehicle's Bluetooth® System. On your touchscreen, touch and hold the CarPlay Dashboard or CarPlay Home button—then ask Siri a question.

Or, with Siri Eyes Free and voice recognition technology built into your vehicle, you can control iPhone features without looking at or touching your iPhone.

Where can I find the Apple CarPlay® app?

There is not an app for Apple CarPlay®; the software is built-in for newer iPhone models. Be sure to have the latest software installed on the phone for best results. Also, Siri® must be turned on in Settings.

Do I need a data plan to use CarPlay?

For all features of Apple CarPlay® to operate correctly, it is necessary to have a compatible iPhone®, a cellular connection and a data plan. Some features will work without a data connection.

How do I enable Apple CarPlay® in my iPhone settings?

When you are not driving and plug in your phone for the first time, you should receive a pop up asking if you want to connect to the vehicle while your phone is locked.

Also make sure that Siri is turned on. If you are unsure whether Siri has been disabled for your iPhone, go to Settings > Siri & Search and make sure any of the following options are enabled:

- Listen for "Hey Siri"
- Press Side Button for Siri
- Allow Siri When Locked

How do I link my smartphone to the Apple CarPlay® system?

For vehicles not equipped with Wireless Carplay: You'll need to plug in an Apple-certified USB cable to the USB1 port.

For vehicles equipped with Wireless Apple Carplay: You'll first need to pair your iPhone to the vehicle via Bluetooth. Once paired, a pop-up will appear asking if you would like to use CarPlay wirelessly. You should also get a notification on your iPhone asking if you would like to use CarPlay wirelessly. Select "Yes" for both notifications and you will then be able to use CarPlay wirelessly.

How do I turn off Apple CarPlay?

To use the INFINITI interface and exit Apple CarPlay®, push one of the hard buttons located on the left of the screen. To stop Apple CarPlay® completely, you must disconnect your iPhone® from the USB1 port.

While connected to USB1, will my iPhone® charge?

Yes, but it may charge more slowly than usual depending on your usage. For example, having multiple apps running simultaneously (music, navigation, text messaging, etc.) may result in decreased charging performance.

Does my phone need to be unlocked to use Apple CarPlay®?

No. The first time your iPhone® is connected, it will ask for your permission for Apple CarPlay® to work while the phone is locked. To change this setting at anytime, go to Settings-->General-->CarPlay. Select the vehicle, then toggle the setting off/on.

Can I stream Bluetooth® audio from my iPhone® while running CarPlay?

Bluetooth audio cannot be streamed from a device running Apple CarPlay. If you are using a wired connection, you can use another device paired with the vehicle to stream audio. If you are using a wireless connection, you can plug your other device into the USB2 port to stream audio.

What is the difference between Apple CarPlay and Siri Eyes Free?

Apple CarPlay is meant to integrate with your vehicle’s infotainment system, offering a simplified interface on your vehicle’s touchscreen display to control various iPhone functions. On the other hand, Siri Eyes Free focuses on voice commands and requires a Bluetooth connection to operate.

Why can't I access Siri® using the steering wheel switch?

Make sure that you are pushing and holding the TALK button on the right side of the steering wheel instead of just pushing the switch. (Short press initiates native Voice Recognition.)

How do I control Apple Maps?

You can control Apple Maps in Apple CarPlay® by tapping on the screen, or by using your voice. Either open Apple Maps in CarPlay and use your fingers to use the intuitive on-screen controls, or just ask Siri® for directions, addresses, and more.
