After more than ten years of research and development, Q50’s Direct Adaptive Steering™ (DAS) is here to revolutionize how we drive. This system digitally and instantaneously transmits your steering input directly to the wheels, without a mechanical connection. Its digital processing power lets you steer quicker and smoother than you ever imagined. When you are driving on rough or uneven roads, the system is constantly, automatically making subtle adjustments to give you an increased feeling of stability, while decreasing feedback and vibration through the steering wheel.
Predictive Forward Collision Warning[*]
It Anticipates the Road Ahead
This system warns you of risks that you may not even see coming. Sensors on the front of the Q50 are constantly scanning the road ahead, monitoring both the relative speed and distance of the vehicle in front of you and the vehicle in front of that one. It sees two cars ahead. If the vehicle in front of the one you are behind brakes for any reason, the Q50 will know it before you do.
Lane Departure Prevention and Active Lane Control
It Keeps You on the Straight, and the Narrow
This system uses a camera to monitor your position within the lane you are traveling. If it senses you moving out of your lane without signaling, you are given an audible warning. If you continue in that direction, the Lane Departure Prevention System[*] will ease you back towards the center of the lane. Active Lane Control[*] can help keep you in your lane when driving during a crosswind or on an uneven roadway.
Backup Collision Intervention®
It’s Like Eyes in the Back of Your Head
When you shift into reverse, the Q50’s Backup Collision Intervention® (BCI)[*] helps detect crossing vehicles and large objects behind you, and tells you with both visual and audible alerts. If necessary, BCI goes further by automatically engaging the brakes to help you avoid a collision.
Blind Spot Intervention®[*]
It Sees What You
This system uses sensors to help alert you if a vehicle is detected entering your blind spot area, and then it helps you avoid it. First, a warning light will illuminate. If you begin moving toward the occupied lane, an audible warning will sound. The system will even apply opposite side brakes to help guide you back toward the center of your lane.
Around View® Monitor[*]
It Gives You a Virtual Bird’s-Eye View
This system gives you exceptional awareness of your environment when you are parking. Four cameras and some cutting-edge software work together to generate a composite 360° view of your Q50 from above, showing you clearly the objects detected around your car. It helps put you intuitively in touch with your surroundings, while simultaneously putting you at ease.
It Gives You Personalized Service
The Q50’s Intelligent Key personalizes your car to suit you, without ever leaving your pocket or your purse. Simply pressing the switch on the door handle unlocks the doors and the driver’s seat, outside mirrors, and steering wheel will automatically adjust to your personal preferences.

Q50’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) puts power to the wheels that need it, when they need it, by instantly adapting to changing conditions. Wheelspin, throttle position, and vehicle speed are constantly monitored so the system can automatically divert up to 50% of the available power to the front wheels, enhancing traction and control in adverse conditions. When all-wheel drive is not needed, 100% of the power goes to the rear wheels for more responsive road performance.
