Safety
Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS). Dual-stage front supplemental air bags with seat belt and occupant-classification sensors adjust their inflation rate depending on crash severity and seat belt usage. If the front-passenger's seat is empty, a sensor will deactivate the air bag.[6]
Side-impact supplemental air bags. These air bags are placed in the front seat bolsters so they can move with the seat to help maintain optimal positioning.[6]
Roof-mounted curtain side-impact air bags. Deploy from the headliner above the side windows, helping to give outbourd occupants in all three rows enhanced head protection in the case of a side impact or rollover. Tied to the vehicle's rollover and side-impact sensors, they are designed to offer added protection by staying-inflated for an extended time.[6]
Rollover Sensor. The QX is equipped with a sensor that can help detect an impending rollover. If one is deemed imminent, the system deploys the side-curtain air bags to help provide enhanced occupant protection.
Active Head Restraints (AHR). In certain rear-end collisions, front-seat Active Head Restraints move upward and forward to help cushion the head, and to help assist in reducing whiplash-type injuries.
Seat Belt Pretensioners. Help tighten the front seat belts in certain frontal collisions, while load limiters are designed to “give” a little, helping reduce belt-force load transmitted to front occupants. All rear-seat passengers, including those in the center, are secured by 3-point seat belts.
Snug Kids. The first venture of its kind, Snug Kids is our online guide to selecting and correctly installing a child restraint seat for your Infiniti automobile. Our safety engineers evaluated numerous child restraint seats, installing them in every Infiniti car and SUV. Visit Infinitiusa.com/snugkids to view or download the results and recommendations.Download the Snug Kids™ Safety Seat Fit Guide. (83 Kbs)
3-point height-adjustable front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, driver's seat Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) and passenger's seat ELR and Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR)
Second-row 3-point height-adjustable seat belts with ELR and ALR (3-point center position seat belt available with split bench seat option)
Third-row 3-point seat belts with ELR and ALR
LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) helps simplify proper installation of compatible child restraint seats.
Zone Body Construction. The QX features Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones and steel side-door guard beams. A reinforced steel-ribbed structure helps maintain the integrity of the passenger compartment, while front and rear crumple zones help absorb and redirect crash energy.
4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). By preventing wheel lockup, the ABS system on the QX helps you maintain steering control of the vehicle, even during emergency braking situations.
Brake Assist (BA). In emergency braking situations, many drivers don't brake hard enough, soon enough. Brake Assist monitors how you apply the brakes and, sensing emergency braking, applies maximum brake force.
Brake Assist with Preview Braking.[7] This available system uses the QX's Intelligent Cruise Control[8] sensors to monitor vehicles ahead. If it senses rapidly closing distances to vehicles in the same lane, it automatically pre-pressurizes the braking system in anticipation of emergency braking, potentially improving the braking system's response to sudden driver input.
o
o
Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD). To help optimize braking performance for a variety of vehicle loads, EBD adjusts the amount of brake force applied to the front and rear wheels for improved braking performance, reduced front-end “dive” during braking and more even brake wear.
Traction Control System (TCS). To help enhance rear-wheel grip when accelerating, the Infiniti QX's Traction Control System senses wheelspin and automatically reduces engine output and/or brakes the spinning wheel to help improve traction.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC). Acting in tandem with the Traction Control System, VDC compares actual vehicle cornering performance to the driver's input, adjusting power levels and applying appropriate brake pressure to individual wheels to help correct oversteer or understeer, helping keep the vehicle on the steered path.[9]
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) provides specific information for each tire and low pressure warning.[10]
Security
Infiniti Vehicle Immobilizer System embeds an encoded transponder chip into ignition key. The engine control computer will not allow the engine to start without the correct key and transponder.
Vehicle Security System sounds alarm if intrusion is detected.

5.6-liter V8 engine

The QX56 gets its towing capacity, thanks to a 5.6-liter V8 engine designed from the outset for heavy-duty applications. With a reinforced aluminum-alloy block, dual overhead cams, 32 valves and a forged crankshaft, it churns out 320 horsepower and 393 lb-ft of torque.

Infiniti All-Mode 4WD®

The All-Mode 4WD system constantly calculates the precise traction needed and reacts with millisecond response time. Set the dash-mounted switch to AUTO and the system continually adjusts the amount of power distributed between the front and rear wheels to help enhance control and acceleration. The system also lets you take control with settings for 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low.

Infiniti Intelligent Key for keyless entry and ignition

Without being removed from your pocket or purse, the Intelligent Key can unlock your door or trunk when you touch the sensor. Once inside, it lets you start the engine with a twist of a switch and can signal the driver's seat, steering wheel, pedals and mirrors to adjust to your memory setting.

Dual-zone front Automatic Temperature Control system with microfiltration

This feature lets the driver and front passenger set their own temperatures within the cabin. In addition, a sensor constantly monitors the quality of the outside air coming into the interior. An in-cabin microfilter filters the air you breathe inside your vehicle, helping to reduce road dust, pollen and other air pollutants.

Power-adjustable pedals

Tied to the vehicle's memory system, pedals automatically adjust to your presets when you turn on the ignition, giving you optimal comfort no matter what your size.

Front row 3-point height-adjustable seat belts with Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR), dual pretensioners and load limiters

In certain frontal collisions, front seat belt pretensioners are designed to take up a limited amount of slack in the shoulder belt to help minimize forward movement of occupants in their seats. Load limiters are designed to "give" a little, helping reduce belt-force load transmitted to front occupants.

LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren)

For seating positions that have LATCH, anchor points are located in the lower outboard seating positions where the seatback and seat cushion meet and a top tether anchor is located behind the seat. They allow the placement of LATCH System child-restraint seats in the rear seat. LATCH System seats allow easy installation and secure attachment without the need for ALR seat belts or locking clips. They meet the new federal standards.

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD)

Infiniti's Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) system detects vehicle-load conditions, such as passengers and luggage, and distributes additional brake pressure as needed.

Brake Assist (BA)

In emergency braking situations, many drivers don't brake hard enough, soon enough. Brake Assist monitors how you apply the brakes and, sensing emergency braking, helps apply maximum brake force for potentially shorter stops.

4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

QX56's large, 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes include a 4-wheel, 4-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to help the driver maintain steering control while braking.

Traction Control System (TCS)

The Traction Control System (TCS), integrated with Vehicle Dynamic Control, senses wheelspin during acceleration, automatically reduces engine output, brakes the slipping wheel, and helps redirect power to the wheel or wheels with better traction.

Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)

Acting in tandem with the Traction Control System, VDC[1] compares actual vehicle cornering performance to the driver's steering input, reducing engine power and/or applying appropriate brake pressure to individual wheels to help correct oversteer or understeer, helping to keep the vehicle on the steered path.

[1] VDC, which should remain on when driving except when freeing the vehicle from mud or snow, cannot prevent accidents due to abrupt steering, carelessness, or dangerous driving techniques. Always drive safely.

Vehicle Security System

The Vehicle Security System, which can be activated and deactivated using the remote control keyfob, will sound the alarm if intrusion via doors, hood or liftgate is detected.
