  For 2012, the nose has been lowered to decrease the risk of it breaching the cockpit of another car in a side-impact collision.

  During a dry race, F1 cars must use two tire types – Prime (harder) and Option (softer) – or face disqualification.

• Monocoque

  This driver’s seat frame is made from up to 60 layers of carbon fiber and protected by material used to make bulletproof vests.
