• Fuel

The RB9 isn’t powered by rocket fuel, or jet fuel, or some other exotic concoction. Like all F1 cars, the RB9 runs on a gasoline mixture very similar to what you put in your own car.

  • Power

The RB9 is powered by a 2.4-liter V8 engine generating approximately 750 horsepower and limited to a screaming 18,000 rpms. A 7-speed manual transmission manages all that power.

  • Tires

The average steel-belted radial tire typically lasts about 10,000 miles. F1 tires, made of both synthetic and natural rubber with an underlying nylon/polyester structure, are good for approximately 75 miles.

  • Data Display

The RB9 doesn’t have a dashboard, but drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber still need to know certain information. Performance data like speed, rpms, and lap times are displayed on a small LED screen mounted on the chassis.

  • Aerodynamics

The aerodynamics of the RB9 strike a very delicate balance. The car needs to slip through the air with minimal drag— hence the low, sleek profile—but the front and rear spoilers need air to create downforce. The engine also needs a lot of air, both to perform properly, and to stay cool.

  • Weight

In 2013, F1 regulations have bumped the allowed weight of the car and driver combined up by two kilograms, to 642 kg (1,415 lb).

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber: two drivers that make up the best 1-2 team in the world today. Two men with the talent to take the checkered flag in every race on the 2013 F1 schedule. Together, they have taken the last three Formula One Constructors’ Championship Trophies. This year, they hope to make it a fourth straight with Infiniti Red Bull Racing.
