Power Output

Building on the already impressive performance of the G Convertible's 3.7-liter 24-valve V6 engine, the IPL G Convertible has been tuned to produce more torque and an additional 18 horsepower. IPL enhancements intensify the feel of acceleration, delivering a more exhilarating driving experience. Advanced high-flow dual air intakes help the engine breathe more freely, reducing air resistance and improving output. Low-friction coated pistons reduce resistance, while Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL® ) intake technology boosts performance while improving emissions and fuel efficiency.

Transmission

With the 7-speed automatic, more gears means optimum selection for quick and responsive acceleration. And the high 7th gear allows lower-rpm cruising for greater fuel efficiency. Shift through all seven smoothly and seamlessly in automatic mode, or switch into manual with Downshift Rev Matching and use the solid magnesium paddle shifters for a more hands-on connection.

Suspension

The IPL G Convertible's modified spring rates offer improved tuning that goes beyond the sport model, delivering a confident drive that doesn't sacrifice luxury. Featuring a unique high flow (HF) shock absorber, this new addition to the IPL provides expertly tuned dampening in the middle/high piston speed range to ensure every ride is balanced and comfortable.

Dual Exhaust

The distinctive chrome ports of the true dual exhaust system vent the engine more efficiently, reducing backpressure by 30% to improve upper-end power output that you'll both feel and hear. The tone of the IPL G Convertible's exhaust note was specifically designed to resonate whether the top is up or down - an inspiring sound that announces the authority and approach of pure power.

Performance Brakes

  The unique collaboration of Infiniti designers and
   engineers created the massive 14-inch front rotors
     and sculpted 4-piston front calipers that grab
       faster and with more finite control than a
         sliding caliper design. Press the brake pedal
           and you'll feel their precise feedback and gain
             a greater sense of power and control.

Power Retractable Hardtop

The three-piece retractable hardtop was engineered to open and close in an unconventional clamshell manner to minimize bulk when folded, creating a slimmer, more appealing exterior look. It opens and closes smoothly and efficiently so you can get to the best part of the IPL G Convertible experience: the drive.

Aerodynamics

Uniquely sculpted front fascia and side sills enhance the aerodynamics of the IPL G Convertible and visually express inspired performance. Zero-lift front dynamics allow the tires to grip the pavement, providing you with more comfort and confidence at higher speeds.

Bose® Open Air Sound System

The available Bose® Open Air System monitors ambient noise, vehicle speed and hardtop position. Then it dynamically adjusts the amplifier's equalization to create unrivaled clarity across all 13 speakers, whether the top is up or down. Meanwhile, AudioPilot® 2.0 noise compensation technology helps reduce unwanted outside noise to preserve optimum
listening conditions.

Music On

RearView Monitor

Engage reverse and your vehicle information system displays images from a discreetly-mounted color camera on the rear of the vehicle. Colored guidelines help give you an accurate sense of how close you are to objects behind, and they adjust as you turn, to show your path[*]. As an added measure, the Rear Sonar System[*] emits a beeping tone and displays an icon on the RearView Monitor[*] display when an obstacle appears near the rear bumper.

Adaptive Climate Control System

To maintain a comfortable, consistent temperature even when the top is down, the Adaptive Climate Control System automatically adjusts according to outside temperature and your speed.

Day: When it's warm outside and you're slowing down, the system increases A/C output to cool you down as the refreshing wind diminishes.

Night: When it's cold outside and you're speeding up, increased heater output warms you as more cool air enters the cabin.

Rollover Protection

If an impending rollover is detected, dual Pop-up Roll Bars engage automatically behind the rear seats to help protect occupants. Structurally reinforced A-pillars, body sills, and body structure help enhance overall passenger safety.

Impact Protection

The Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS)[*] includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant-classification sensors that adjust their inflation rate depending on crash severity and seat belt usage. If the front passenger seat is empty, a sensor will deactivate the air bag.

Seat-mounted side-impact air bags move with the seat to help maintain optimum positioning at all times. Roof-mounted curtain side-impact air bags help protect front and rear occupants during certain side collisions.

Enhanced Control

To help enhance rear-wheel grip when accelerating, the Traction Control System senses wheel spin and automatically reduces engine output and/or brakes the spinning wheel to help give you surer foothold. Acting in tandem with the Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamic Control[*](VDC) compares actual vehicle cornering performance to the driver's input, adjusting power levels and applying appropriate brake pressure to individual wheels to help correct oversteer or understeer, helping keep the vehicle on the steered path.

Advanced Braking

The 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is enhanced by Brake Assist, which helps apply the maximum brake force you need to help prevent a collision. And Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) helps improve braking performance by actively adjusting the amount of brake force applied to front and rear wheels.
